How Much Does Epoxy Garage Flooring Cost in Brampton and the GTA?

By NextWave Renos · Published November 7, 2026 · 3 min read

Short answer: HomeStars, a Canadian home-services marketplace, reports epoxy flooring at roughly $3 to $12 per square foot, or about $2,400 to $7,200 for a double-car garage (guide updated August 21, 2026). Where your garage lands in that range depends mostly on the condition of the concrete, the finish you choose and the coating system. These are third-party figures, not NextWave Renos prices.

Published price ranges

HomeStars does not say whether its figures are national averages or regional, so treat them as a starting point rather than a Brampton quote.

Garage Reported cost
Single-car $1,200 to $3,600
Double-car $2,400 to $7,200
Triple-car $3,600 to $10,800
Finish Reported cost per sq. ft.
Basic $3 to $5
Standard $5 to $9
Decorative flake $6 to $10
Metallic $8 to $12

What actually moves the price

1. Concrete condition and repairs

Cracks, spalling from road salt, oil stains and old sealers all add work before any coating goes down. One of our customers described a garage with "cracks and damaged concrete" that needed repairs first, which is common in GTA garages that have seen years of winter salt.

2. Surface preparation

Coating manufacturers specify a roughened, clean surface. Euclid Chemical's installation instructions for its epoxy floor coatings call for a concrete surface profile of CSP 2 to 5 (an industry scale from the International Concrete Repair Institute), preferably achieved mechanically. Grinding or blasting takes equipment and time, and it is the step most often cut on cheap quotes. Our guide on why epoxy floors peel explains why it matters.

3. Moisture in the slab

If the slab lets too much moisture through, a moisture-mitigating primer may be needed. Euclid's instructions set the trigger at 85% relative humidity (ASTM F2170) or 3 lbs per 1,000 sq. ft. per 24 hours (ASTM F1869). That adds material cost.

4. Finish and system

Flake and metallic finishes cost more than a solid colour. A UV-stable topcoat or a polyaspartic system usually costs more than a basic epoxy, but may suit garages with sunlight or quick turnaround needs. See flake vs. metallic epoxy and epoxy vs. polyaspartic.

5. Details

Stairs, steps into the house, drains, and a coating turned up the wall as a cove base all add labour. They also make the floor look finished and easier to clean.

Hidden costs to ask about

  • Crack and spall repair: included, or priced per linear foot?
  • Moisture testing and, if needed, a moisture barrier primer
  • Removing an old coating or sealer
  • Moving stored items and shelving
  • How long until you can walk on it and park on it

How to compare epoxy quotes

A low price per square foot means little if two quotes describe different work. Ask each installer to state in writing:

  1. How the concrete will be prepared (grinding, shot blasting or acid etching)
  2. Which repairs are included
  3. The products and number of coats
  4. Whether a topcoat is included
  5. Cure times before foot and vehicle traffic
  6. What warranty applies and what it excludes

Ontario's Consumer Protection Act requires a written agreement for contracts over $50, and if an estimate is part of your contract the final price generally cannot exceed it by more than 10% unless you agree to changes. Our quote comparison guide covers this in more detail.

Frequently asked questions

Is epoxy cheaper than tiling a garage floor? It depends on the products, but a coating avoids the tile, mortar and grout work, and it suits a garage that sees salt and water.

Can I coat a new garage slab right away? No. Euclid's instructions require new concrete to be at least 28 days old before coating.

Do prices differ across the GTA? Travel and access can matter, but the condition of your concrete usually matters far more than the city it is in.
